Industries we work in.
Roads, Bridges, Overpasses, & Detours. Road, Highway and Rail construction projects are plagued by unanticipated conditions which cause disruption, lead to changes in scope, and cause cost overruns. Lump-sum projects with a fixed completion date affected by these are more susceptible to claims than projects based on the schedule of rates with a more flexible construction schedule.
Electrical, Windfarms, & Solar. Wind farm projects have a lot in common with IKEA furniture, as turbines come in flatpacks consisting of tower, turbine, blades, and container with components. We dealt with issues ranging from unsuitable access roads, damaged blades, incorrect componentry, outdated manuals, and failure to obtain AEMO approvals (which we assisted with). We also appeared as expert witnesses on cost disputes.
Process Plants. Full life cycle. From long-lead procurement items and assistance in sourcing design and performance guarantees to preparation of submissions to secure board approval and project finance. We also dealt with design liability insurance claims, plant performance below specification, incomplete works, and re-work.
Mining. We provide assistance from the formation of Joint Ventures to completing feasibility studies to bankable quality for board approval. We also develop ECI and overall project delivery contracting strategies. We draft MOUs, advise on separation of scope and delineation of battery limits, overseas equipment sourcing and modularisation, intelligent modules, freight and transport to site and insurances.
Office Buildings. Over 20-years developing landmark buildings such as the Star City Casino with carpark, offices, hotel and apartment towers and Lyric and Show Theatres. We worked on the Chifley Tower building, Manly RSL Club swimming pool complex, Cronulla Sharks’ Stadium, and many residential estate with emphasis on MEP and F Claims.
Oil & Gas. Selection and drafting of appropriate contract model (EPC, EPCM, GMP, D+C, Cost Plus, and Bespoke), and technology transfers. Gas extraction, contracts for drilling, wellhead skids, compressors, specialist piping, pressure reducing stations, pulse columns and gas and liquid petroleum storage. Negotiation with authorities for permits, easements, and environmental matters.
Civil. Claims for unsuitable ground conditions, latent conditions, unforeseen utilities, cracks and tears on surface layer and slippage of asphalt due to incorrect sub-base or compaction. Claims for wrongful termination of contract, uninducted and unlicensed personnel, use of incorrect and unapproved equipment, and defence of unmeritorious claims.
Heavy Rail, Metro, & Light Rail. Metro, Tram and Bus-lane civil works including TVM tunnelling, underground, on-ground, and overhead alignment and corridors, to underground, on-ground and elevated stations with retail sections, ticketing and maintenance facilities. Heavy rail including coal and iron ore loaders and unloaders, stackers and reclaimers. We assist clients with contract negotiation, authority approvals, and operations and maintenance contracts.
Smelters, Steel, Alumina, Gold. From alumina smelters and carbon bake facilities in Gladstone and bauxite mining in Gove, to iron ore mining and processing in the Pilbara, we have an impeccable record in assisting our clients with land acquisition, native title issues and dealing with traditional owners, and managing contracts dealing with all aspects of project development in remote areas (worker camps, transport, water and sewerage treatment, etc).
